My full name is Chelcie Renee Guidry, and I am a Fashion Merchandising major at the University of North Texas minoring in Retail Certification. Proceeding my expected graduation date of December 13, 2014, I would like to continue to progress through the stepping stones to pursuing a career in editorial fashion styling. I am an out-of-the-box idea generator with a keen eye for details and eccentric style. A great mind once shared with me that stylists are the interpreters of fashion in which I also believe and live by. Styling serves as an outlet to freely express my ideas and passions that are categorized over multiple genres.
I knew that I wanted to be a stylist when I realized how much I enjoyed being the master creative behind-the-scenes. I am obsessed with the fast-pace, adrenaline-pumping and turnaround time crunch that fashion shows and photo-shoots permit. I have 4 years of styling experience with fashion shows, editorial and product shoots. In those years, I have built relationships with retailers, photographers, makeup artists, and hairstylists. I have styled graduation photos, helped with seasonal closet clean-outs, and sourced trend information for clients.
I grew up in the music and entertainment industry, and attained my creative niche for styling and conceptual brainstorming at a very young age. Approximately two years ago, I reached out to a stylist at The Dragonfly Agency in Dallas to shadow, and have worked my way up to an assistant to the lead stylist, Juan Lerma. In working with him, I have been exposed to pulling from retailers such as Tootsies, Couture Rocks Jewelry specializing in diamonds and one-of-kind jewels, and Traffic Los Angeles in Dallas who carry designers such as Rick Owens, Isabel Marant, Balmain, Dolce and Gabbana, Givenchy and more. I have also worked with highly recognized designers such as Binzario Couture, Ese Azenabor, Geoffrey Henning, Le'Venity, Lucy Dang, and Edgar Gomez whom are local couture designers. I also work as a freelance stylist where I create concepts with photographers, cast models and coordinate the wardrobe aspect as well. I have experience styling for fashion magazine editorials such as Method Seven Magazine, Jute Magazine, Austere Magazine, event coverage and look book styling for Mieux and Mieux (retailer), LIVING Magazine, Cosign Mag, and BLEEP Magazine. I have experience with the fast-paced aspect of the fashion industry as I have worked as a production assistant, lead stylist and stage hand for several runway shows in the Dallas Metro-plex.
Aside from my love for fashion styling, I have many other hobbies such as blogging, photography, and drawing. I am an all-around creative. In my lifetime, I have utilized many blogging platforms, but I finally created www.justchelcie.com, in which I have successfully maintained. My plan is to attain as many career opportunities as possible to network and build more credible relationships to further my experience in the fashion industry. In doing so, I have constructed a fashion blog that allows me to showcase fashion events, trends, and forecasting. I find pleasure in creative writing, literary expression and blogging about fashion.
