Good Times, Good Vibes

I would go so far as to say that I don't get to hang out at as many social events as I would like just for the simple fact that I am hard to please when it comes to being around personable people and environments that are beneficial for me in the long-run. I tend to stick with the people that I do know, but for the lifestyle that I desire, it's just not possible. Amongst the people I partied with last night, I actually share brain capacity with. When amongst creatives, you never know who or what you are going to see or experience.

For the first time last night, I actually went to a club that I wasn't ready to leave in the first five minutes. I was in the mix of a fashionable crowd, good vibes, and a well-decorated basement might I add. Cheers  to meeting new people and DJ Sober whom actually plays music for the people who enjoy real hip hop and the classics. Prior to attending the basement, we made a pit stop at the Smirnoff event that was being hosted in an art gallery in the Design District. Everyone was staring because clearly we were only there for the free drinks. It was cool that we got our names on the list for the event, thanks to a new acquaintance, Claudia. After four or so drinks, we headed to the Cosign Power Issue Release Party where we met up with more friends to show support. There werer some powerful people in the building for sure; I think a friend of mine even made a connect! That was cool! Then we headed to the basement where we ended the night.

ah, good times. Good vibes.

Goodnight.

Review of the CHANEL Paris-Dallas 2013/14 Métiers d'Art show

Hey!

Okay, so I will say that initially after hearing the details of the post-Chanel show critics, I was not too fond of the typical country cowboy theme that seems to flow through people's minds when they think of Texas. However, after reading a bit of the inspiration behind the rodeo style runway, I began to appreciate the direction of it all a little more. In the words of Karl Lagerfeld, "I didn't want the famous Cowboy Hat everybody knows. There's a mix of the kind of refined American culture from the early years of the 19th century but put into the 21st century. It's an idea, it's a feeling... I wanted a poetic touch" (source: Dallas Fashion Calendar, read more here.) After seeing those words, it made it relevant that Lagerfeld's vision is embedded in the culture of Texas whether I like to except it or not. I love the fact that he didn't take a predictable route, but used inspiration from further back in our history to interpret Chanel's modernity.

The clothing was absolutely beautiful. I saw several pieces that I know if I could afford it , it would definitely be hanging in my closet. But, more than the clothing, I LOVED the accessories. Whomever styled the runway show is surely a beast with coordination. I loved the chunkiness and godliness of all the pieces. Chanel's accessories happens to be my favorite entity of the label. My first thought is pearls and c's dangling from a long link-and-chain necklace. I enjoyed watching the show via video because I was able to pause and rewind to specific details of the show that I wanted to see. I know that it would have been ten times better to actually smell the cow manure and feel the breeze of the models walking by, but this will certainly suffice. I now feel like I was there. That's enough for me!

What did you think?

CHANEL Paris-Dallas

I know that several of us did not have the opportunity to attend the invite-only Chanel Paris-Dallas show, so here's to the exclusive seats in front of our computers only a a week or so later. Enjoy! lol

Mieux and Mieux Look Book Behind-The-Scenes (BTS)

Wow, this past weekend was absolutely bananas. Seriously, I haven't done anything remotely close to sleep, but it was all worth it in the end. In a previous post I mentioned my affiliation with the styling of the Mieux and Mieux look book and website features. It was an enjoyable experience and I even got my first taste of a pumpkin spice latte. I think I officially love everything pumpkin! lol Well, anyways, this was only one of three shoots over the weekend and I think that I will like the outcome of them all. You'll just have to see.
