To me, and others like myself, since the release of 12 Years of Slave, people have finally realized how beautiful black really is. As if this is some new found theory, Lupita has been getting quite a bit of attention after her role in the film. "Wow she's so beautiful," I keep hearing people say, but this is not a new phenomenon. Its like the darkest woman on the silver-screen and all of a sudden, minds are changed? PSA: We've been THIS beautiful. It's time to catch up. But, I do applaud Lupita for enlightening people of all shades and establishing authentic self-esteem for the brown girls. But as for the people thinking that this shade of skin is the newest thing since sliced bread...educate yourself. #weirdculture
